I feel like my online identity is fairly standard. I don't have a ridiculous amount of information about myself online, but at the same time a stranger would easily be able to learn a few key facts about me by simply googling my name. In a world where social media is becoming more and more prevalent, I have certainly been cautious about the information that I put online, knowing that anyone can access it. At the present, Facebook is the only online tool that I really use to communicate with others, although I have a twitter and tweet on rare occassion. The online identity that I have now is certainly sufficient for social purposes, but I think it would be beneficial to further "write myself into being" in a professional sense. In the coming semester I plan on student teaching, not only in NC, but also in Russia, and while everyone is certain to have a unique student teaching experience regardless of where they teach, I am sure that I will have a very interesting experience in a place where I am completely unfamiliar with the culture. I plan on keeping a blog throughout my time as a student teacher in NC and in Russia to further develop my digital footprint in a professional sense. If a potential employer was to "google" my name, I would love for the first thing that came up to be a detailed account of my experiences as an educator in a new place, rather than how many goals I scored in a soccer game in high school, which is what comes up now.
